About the event
Why Victory Gardens ? In WW I and WWII the Government asked communities to gather and grow fresh fruits and Vegetables for themselves and their neighbors .
Supporting the Front Lines: With millions of working-age men overseas, commercial farming faced severe labor shortages. Home gardens ensured soldiers were well-fed while freeing up commercial crops for the military and allies.
Stretching Ration Coupons: Many foods (like canned goods, meats, and fats) were heavily rationed. Growing fresh vegetables at home allowed families to save their ration coupons for other essential groceries.
Boosting Civilian Morale: Gardening provided a constructive, patriotic outlet for citizens to support the war effort from the home front
We would like to imitate the Victory Gardens to ensure every Veteran has the opportunity to have fresh veg. and fruit as an option in a healthy Diet. Did you know that healthy diet and Mental health are hand in hand…
